Every single person knows someone they cared about that has suffered or died from heart disease.  

Heart disease (which includes Heart Disease, Stroke and other Cardiovascular Diseases) is the No. 1 cause of death in the United States, killing nearly 787,000 people alone in 2011. Let me emphatically state the following:  The current mainstream philosophy on preventing heart disease ignores many of the foundational reasons for this disease.
